In Germany, a lot of beer is sold in glass bottles with metal bottle caps (crown caps) that come off. And you find them all over - even in the mountains! Our eldest picks them up consistently, also on hikes, and now I do, too!
Thank you Sari for a refreshing newsletter. I very much enjoyed reading about how you raised enthusiasm with the scavenger hunt idea and the looking for litter. I’ll also write an email to my favorite Japanese take-out re the plastic they use. Your big fan in Geneva, Manolita
Oh, Manolita! So great to hear from you! We are due a catch up. And bravo on emailing your fav take-out place. I hope you have more luck than I did with Panera. They replied with a generic response. But I figure if they hear it enough . . .

Oh, yes! I remember those in Austria. My kid was 5 when we visited and she loved collecting them (and broken glass, her fav).
Bravo to your eldest!

Bones and animal scat should definetly be on any hiker's scavanger list. Any animal sign, though, is nice to have on the list.
Scat! Yes! And animal tracks are also nice. Thank you!
